Computer Vision & Data Architecture for Sport

A fully-funded four-year PhD studentship at TU Dublin

The Project

A fully-funded four-year PhD studentship is open at TU Dublin, on Human Factors and Ergonomics in Sport Performance Intelligence. The project will design and build the video data environment from an AI-first perspective — ingestion, storage, retrieval, and a computer vision layer — that underpins sports intelligence for coaches and analysts working under match-day pressure.

It sits squarely at the intersection of computer vision, applied data engineering, and the human factors that decide whether these systems actually get used.

Funding

The position is funded through a new national research centre for data science and AI backed by Research Ireland:

  • → €25,000 per year tax-free for four years
  • → EU fees covered
  • → Fee waiver for non-EU students

What I'm Looking For

  • → Strong Python
  • → Genuine interest in CV / data pipelines / sport
  • → Disposition to work fluidly across academic and industry settings
  • → Master's helpful but not required
